Nails

...I could get addicted to these

Jordan's mom took me to get my nails done last Monday as part of my birthday present.  She know that I wanted to get french tips done for the wedding and have never sported anything like it before.  They are longer then I think I like - but it's only been four days (when writing this) so I'm still settling into them.  Typing is the most difficult thing so far....that and pushing buttons.

I have some birthday money that i'm going to use to get them filled in/refreshed - whatever people call it, the week before the wedding - but after that, I'm not sure I want to spend the $40/month to keep them updated.

Do you get your nails done?  How much do you spend on personal care?

Jordan would like to see me spending more on myself - even hair cuts..which I only do once ever six to eight months.

so...I cancelled my WOW subscription.

Not perminently by any means, but I've been playing my DS and my new Wii game that Jordan gave me when I have a few minutes to play a video game - but mostly - I've just been spending so much time outdoors (which is fantastic), so what's the point in continuing to pay $15/month for something I'm not really using right now.

WOW is pretty great in that I can cancel and start my subscription as often as I like, and my characters just get put on hold in their servers.  I don't ever have to start over.

Here is my WOW Character (for those readers that play)...i know there's, what - two of you?

It's BBQ'ing Season

...and Jordan and I bought a new BBQ.

We've been saving for this on the side for a while now and finally found one that would meet our needs!  It cost about $400 after taxes from Costco. The online price is a bit higher ($550) - my mom says that's because of shipping.

We've roasted hot dogs and grilled steaks - and so far - she's cookin' fine!

Homemade Bread - I Did It!

Back in October I had mentioned I wanted to learn how to make my mom's bread.  Well, at Christmas - I got the KitchenAid I so desperately wanted, and just this weekend I finally made my first loaf of bread!

I'll share with you this experience, in pictures!

After mixing all the ingredients in my lovely Kitchen Aid - I got to the best part... kneading!

Then it has to rise, not once

  but twice

 into the oven....

mmm yum!

I had halved the recipe I used b/c I wasn't sure how much it would make - next time I'll use the whole recipe and put a bit more dough in each pan.

Sunday Morning Funny

I thought this was the perfect picture for Sunday! I think Jordan and I might take a trip to ikea, or at the very least check out kijiji.ca for some new/used furniture. He's sooo tired of our very used, very tired couches and chairs (which were free by the way).

I doubt we'll spend any $$ today on furniture, but it's nice to look and see what the options are so we can plan for it.

I will be credit card debt free in 12 days!

Hobbies

I asked Jordan for a post idea the other day and he said I should write about Hobbies, I kind of laughed it off because I couldn't really see the personal finance angle. I've been thinking about it the last week or two, and really, what doesn't have a PF angle?

I've been thinking about what my hobbies are and how much they actually cost. Here's what I've come up with in terms of my hobbies/interests:
  • Horse back riding
  • Fish keeping/breading (we have 3 fish tanks)
  • Painting (ceramics or white ware)
  • Cooking/baking
  • Scrap booking (I have a lot of materials and one have finished book)
  • I knit on and off and mostly forget how in between
  • Checking out open houses/garage sales/estate sales
  • Gardening
  • Reading PF (and other) blogs
  • Reading novels
  • Camping
  • Fishing
  • I'd like to find ways to use all the tools I recently picked up (erm, I want to build a birdhouse, is that strange?)
  • Wondering around home fixit stores getting ideas for my aunts place
  • Spending time with family/friends
  • Working at my aunts place
At this point, I'm not sure how much my hobbies cost, but wow! That seems like a big list. Some of the items above are free, some had large initial outlays however now wouldn't cost a lot (like camping & fishing). Some have fixed reoccurring costs (horse board), some have variable reoccurring costs (fish food ect).

Do you know how much your hobbies cost? What are your hobbies?

Mad Libbing

Quite a few Pf bloggers have filled out the Mad Lib below - I thought I'd join in the fun. Some of those bloggers include: Punch Debt in the Face, Give me Back my Five Bucks, and Always the Planner

Hi my name is Jessie . I currently have $60 dollars in my wallet. When I started managing my finances I was worth -$7,499, and now have a net worth of -$2,145. I currently work in Human Resources and have been doing it for one year. I make roughly $45,000 per year. I want to have enough money to be comfortable waiting for me when it comes time to retire. Aside from learning about finances, I really enjoy horse back riding, quading, camping, & spending time with friends and family. I think the world would be a better place if poverty didn't exist. I had Arbys (thanks for buying Jordan) for dinner last night and it was kind of bland. I have had a few significant others over the course of my lifetime, and none hold a candle to my partner Jordan. One thing that makes me different is my passion and comittment. Now that I'm done with this mad lib, I think I'm going to get back to work (it's my lunch break).
