Monitor Size

Hello my lovely readers!

I've realised that folks with smaller monitors may not be having the viewing experience that I had hoped.  This blogger template shrinks with smaller screens, but some of the modules don't - and I would hate for all of you to be viewing this site all scrunched up.

So, I ask of you two things.

  1. Please participate in my poll at the top/right of this blog to let me know your monitor size.
  2. Please feel free to comment on this post if there is anything visually annoying that you would like me to look at fixing.
Thanks!

Nails

...I could get addicted to these

Jordan's mom took me to get my nails done last Monday as part of my birthday present.  She know that I wanted to get french tips done for the wedding and have never sported anything like it before.  They are longer then I think I like - but it's only been four days (when writing this) so I'm still settling into them.  Typing is the most difficult thing so far....that and pushing buttons.

I have some birthday money that i'm going to use to get them filled in/refreshed - whatever people call it, the week before the wedding - but after that, I'm not sure I want to spend the $40/month to keep them updated.

Do you get your nails done?  How much do you spend on personal care?

Jordan would like to see me spending more on myself - even hair cuts..which I only do once ever six to eight months.

Friends & Finances

As you know, Jordan and I have been trying our best to get back on track this month and not spend more than we 'need' to.  There's always room for improvements, but I think we're doing pretty well.  As we made the decision to eliminate our allowances (just for the month) I'm struggling a bit when friends ask to go out to do something.

My best friend wanted to go out dancing this coming Friday and I told her why I wasn't up for it.  She's awesome, so it's okay and now we're brainstorming other ways to have fun.  So far we've come up with:
  • Potluck
  • Boardgame-girls night
I'm wondering though, what fun things do you do with your friends when your watching your pennies.  It's winter, so it's a lot harder I'm finding to come up with interesting things.

I (and i'm sure she) would love to hear your feedback on this one!

Thanks!

Favorite PF Blogs

I recently went through my blog list and found that quite a few that I used to follow have dropped off or decided to 'take a break' from blogging.  My favorite blogs are typically those that are personal finance blogs - that aren't 100% 'how to' or 'ten steps to becoming debt free' style.  I like reading about real people and their real experiences with money management.

If you have discovered a new PF blog that you just love, would you comment to this post with the URL?  I'd like to have a bigger reading list and thought I would reach out to you - my readers.  If you are reading my blog, I'll probably like the other's that you read.

Thank you!

Update and a Question

I was at a bit of a loss for words this morning, but after talking with Jordan this evening, I have a bit of an update for you.

Jordan's banking information was changed a pay period earlier than we thought (for July 31, 2010 instead of August 13, 2010). After a bit of finaggeling (is that even a word) we've managed to get the accounts sorted out. He'll get his first $100 allowance on Friday and the joint account will pay off his Visa - then we'll both be credit card debt free when we go into August.

Hizzah.

We still haven't received our joint credit card yet, but we called Mastercard today and they said we should have it in the mail by Friday. If we don't, I told Jordan we can use my credit card as our 'joint' card until it comes.

The one thing I'm really looking forward to is being able to actually track all of our spending now.  But I'm not sure how it will all break down.  I'm thinking groceries, eating out, clothing....'entertainment' - but maybe we should break entertainment down.  Maybe eating out counts as entertainment - I'm not really sure..

I'm wondering, if you track your spending how do you categorize it?
